Hello East Tennessee! I am Chris Campbell and it is time to think differently about how we CAN make a difference. This is an independent campaign to restore faith in our governance and give the working class a chance for economic relief. For brevity's sake, if you are happy with the status quo, then this campaign will not appeal to you.
As a lifelong resident of Appalachia in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, I have had the privilege of growing up with, working alongside, and volunteering with the people that our nation's founders intended to govern themselves. In November, let's turn US politics upside down. This is our opportunity to independently represent our 1st District in the 120th Congress. We are well aware "if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand."
As 21st century Americans, we are united through the challenges to our way of life. Our visits to grocery stores and gas stations remind us that inflation is painfully real. Unemployment and equally threatening underemployment weigh heavily on many of us. To the uninsured and underinsured, a hospital stay creates a financial burden equivalent to a monthly car payment. And at the same time, Wall Street is setting record after record. Two economies have emerged in America, and it is the Main Street economy that is suffering. Voters identifying as independents are growing at an unprecedented pace. Are you ready to join the Americans that are saying no to the two party rule?
Are you voting for or against candidates?
Feeling un-represented?
Why me?
Too many people are giving up on the political process at the very time they are needed the most. To quote a gentleman I met in a music store in April, "I'm tired of this, aren't you?"
I have sat on the sidelines for too long. I had been under the spell of the two party system. I believed that if I didn't agree with one party then the other party was for me. Then it hit me. I was the pawn that the two parties needed to keep their high stakes, winner take all chess game going.
Responsible Manufacturing
Partner with Tennessee and local governments to showcase the resilient, creative and improvising Appalachian workforce in East Tennessee.
Why now?
Upon my parents passing, I found a ledger dating back to 1966 in which my dad entered every paycheck that he earned until he retired. While I have long believed that trickle down economics does not work, this ledger drove it home for me. Today I still see the same burdens play out. Wages are stagnant when compared to Wall Street. America just made the world's first trillionaire, but senior citizens are more likely to lose their home to foreclosure than any other time in recent history. And at this same time, social media is defending itself in court for not doing enough to protect our children. We cannot be among the nations that do not care for its seniors and its children.
How do we do it?
Tired of gambling your future and your children's future on the parties that have brought us to this point?
Economy
The K-shape economy is real. More working families in East Tennessee are finding their purchasing power diminished. Realign corporate tax rates with workforce compensation disparities. High pay differential = high tax rate.
Healthcare
Support the many Americans caring for their communities in the healthcare industry and ensure access to healthcare and insurance that doesn't bring financial ruin.
Affordability
End the unconstitutional taxing of Americans through tariffs, restore solvency for Social Security and reform the credit reporting system that burdens working Americans.
